I look at you and see all the ways a soul can bruise, and I wish I could sink my hands into your flesh and light lanterns along your spine so you know that there’s nothing but light when I see you

These pictures are well overdue on my blog. I had a mini shoot with my friend Lucy from Del Real Photography in Long Beach. The dress I’m wearing here is probably my favorite by Stop Staring, every Stop Staring! dress is very curve conscious, perfectly cinching at the waist and the material has just enough stretch for that small waist big hip transition.

And so the funeral hat continues. We took the train to PaperFrank’s art show at City of Ink, however we looked like we were ready for black mass.
Surprisingly the dress, belt, and pin is by American Apparel, their styles are rather simple which is great because you can dress them up or down as you wish.
The hat that I’m obsessed with, and I can’t take off for the life of me, I got at a thrifT store in L.A.
Purse and shoes I’ve posted before, as you can tell I wear them often.

I’ve been looking for the right funeral hat for a few months now. Finally I scored an awesome hat at a thrift store in L.A whilst shopping for my return to ATL. I’ve been wearing it often-too often, definitely channeling my inner Lydia Deetz.
-The Metallica shirt was found at American Vintage
-Bag is Dooney & Bourke, also thrifted from Crossroads
-Wedges I found years ago in a hole in the wall store. I’ve had for so long, I keep taking them to the shoeman to get repaired, I cant let go.
I’m a bit obsessed, thats all.

City of Ink‘s painter and tattoo artist, Paper Frank, was followed around by a camera during the final days before his solo art show . Frank definitely has an incredibly devoted following, City of Ink was crowded!
We were caught off guard having movie night with my boyfriend James and my friend Yamhari. Please excuse the boxers and wu-tang shirt, all my pretty PJ’s were dirty.
Forever sippin’ wine.

Summer has been so lovely, school is out so I returned to my second home and reunited after being away for 2 months.
Still Corners was played at the house like everyday, I’m going to say this is my summer ’12 soundtrack:

My business partner Tara King flew from Chicago to L.A, we ran a little Mama Doña errands and a did mini shoot for our clothing line. Funny encounter- a street wear line stopped us asked if we wanted to model for them whilst we were shooting, looked like Coco was in the Range Rover with them, “no we have our own shoot to take care of, thanks” lol.
People kept asking me about my outfit so I decided to do a post on it:
-Tiger print midriff halter top is a vintage reproduction by Georgia’s lovely Liz Hall, she uses vintage patterns to make her clothes check her etsy
-Black leather purse is vintage, my mother bought it for me at a thrift store
-Moto jacket is byLip Service from their Widow collection. It was a super score, got it free when I was interning for Lip Service/Kill City at their sample sale. I love how its cropped perfectly.
-These pants are my absolute FAVORITE pants, I literally have them in every color. These are American Apparel’s riding pant. I get asked about them soo much, I’ve had girls ask me about them then go to purchase them but it doesn’t fit them the same, it all depends on your body type really, if you are curvy these are for you.
-Black Jasper Fawn heels are by Vincent Camuto, super comfortable

We had such a beautiful weekend in Los Angeles, I’m definitely not a morning person but this weekend was an exception.

My sister called me a walking picnic:
-The red collared gingham shirt is vintage from Static Vintage in San Francisco
-Leather belt is from American Apparel
-Circle skirt is from American Apparel
-Shoes I found at a little shop in santee alley, I edited them by adding plastic lemon slices
-Basket weave bag is vintage, it was handed down to my mother and then to me, not sure what year its from.

Stop Staring is definitely one of my favorite clothing lines, I feel like the clothes was made for me, every Stop Staring dress I own fits like glove. At 24.5″ waist and 40″ hips its very hard to find modern clothes that fits perfectly, dresses now a days will fit my waist too big and my hips to tight, thats due to the size standards in women changing dramatically from the 40′s, 50′s or early 60′s. The designers from Stop Staring! understand the feminine figure and how to accentuate the curves. This interview is lovely, I’m obsessed with mexican film noire (specially Maria Felix) I totally understand what Alicia Estrada is talking about.

I’ve posted her before ad I will post her again, I love absolutely everything about her style. I can definitely relate to the “kid in christmas morning” feeling during treasure hunting at local flea markets.
